After 7 months of personal training:
San Antonio Personal Training

After numerous attempts and miserable failures with diets, I had settled with the fact that I was a failure indeed. Although I would lose weight, it always seemed to come back with evil force and usually in larger amounts. I am 5'3" and topped the scale at 190 pounds and a size 18, when I became desperate for a change. By the end of 2006, I began having health issues, shortness of breath, blackouts, and chronic fatigue, pain in my back, legs and feet. I was frightened by what I was facing, but after being seen by two specialists a Cardiologist and Vascular Specialist, I received good results, however both said I was obese and risked future health issues, but I could reverse this by losing weight and exercising. Ouch.

I was at my wits end. So I made a promise to my family, God, and myself that in 2007, I would make a change. Although I was worried that I would fail again, I was committed to being a success this time.

Although it took me until the end of April to get myself prepared for this life change, I began dieting. I am not a big fan of corporate gyms, and so called trainers that sometime don't look any better than you, but sure feel they can instruct you into getting in shape. I became desperate to find a personal one-on-one trainer. And by no coincidence, I saw Carrie in a restaurant. She had just finished working out at the gym and came in to eat lunch, and I saw her. Yes, you could tell she was incredibly fit, so my thinking was she must be a trainer. After confronting her, she gave me her contact info. I made the call that same afternoon, met with her the next day, and began my incredible health and fitness journey on May 1st, 2007.

I met with Carrie, shared with her my fears, my weaknesses, failures and goals. I felt an immediate bond with her and was most impressed with her genuine commitment to my success. Carrie is unlike any other personal trainer. She is an incredible lady that prides herself on her client's success and rises to the challenge of helping you reach and sustain your goals. She began with my eating habits (bad ones), she transformed them and then created an incredible training program for strength and endurance. Although I felt like I wasn't going to be able to reach my goals because of the pain and frustrations, Carrie continued her commitment to me and encouraged me. Each time that I felt I couldn't she would inspire me with the words "you can and you will" and "together we will make it happen". She pushed me beyond what I thought were my limits and each time I would rise to the occasion, not always without putting up a fuss, but somehow I never gave up, I wasn't going to give in. I was going to battle with this unhealthy force that had conquered me before. Carrie always made things different for me, each session was a new experience, there was always a new challenge, and she made sure I reached it. She has instilled in me the importance of proper nutrition, cardio training, and strength training. And somehow, what she instills in you "haunts" you when you are away. When you eat, you can hear the words "are you eating clean?" and you make better choices. Her clients and those of other trainers in the studio respect her because she leads and trains by example. She truly practices what she teaches. She is contagious, and she gives you that same contagious drive for a healthy and fit lifestyle.

After working out with Carrie for 7 months, I have lost 50 pounds, and am now in a size 4. Although I still want to lose a few more pounds, my confidence, self esteem and outlook on my personal health and fitness have become a priority. I feel great, I think I look great (especially since I am pushing 50) and I love the person I have become. In October, I ran my first 5K run and I couldn't have done this on my own. I owe my success to God for giving me the strength and the opportunity of running into Carrie that unforgettable day, and I will always be indebted to Carrie for my success. I have been blessed beyond measure for this life-changing journey. I am blessed to not only say she is my personal trainer, but she has become a very close and personal friend to my family and me.

Carrie, thank you for your constant guidance, your integrity, your commitment to my success and your 24/7 availability at anytime I have needed encouragement, a food question answered or just a friendly lift. I will never be able to express to you my gratitude, but I will pay it forward and will be your biggest fan and advertisement. Carrie you are the BEST!

God Bless you forever!

Boyd totally overhauled my strength and conditioning. In wrestling, explosive strength, speed, and top-flight conditioning are paramount, and my family and I trust Boyd with all of my off-season and in-season training. I'll continue to work with Boyd throughout my college career, and on to the 2010 Olympic Games.

"My name is Craig Rigtrup and after suffering a catastrophic knee injury in the line of police work in 2002, I fell in to a trap of inactivity and the belief that my physical conditioning may never be the same. After consulting Carrie Carmichael and putting aside such apathy, I returned to form under her guidance and continued my police career and eventually returned to tactical work and finally to the 2004 TPAF Police Games Gold Medal in the 3-gun competition and a Bronze Medal in men's tennis. I owe much of my success to Carrie and the work devoted beyond the activity prescribed to me after my initial physical therapy."

Thanks to Boyd, I am wearing a top that I have n-e-v-e-r - let me repeat, n-e-v-e-r been able to wear. It was one of those things that I bought years ago because it was cute and I thought I'd lose weight to fit into it, but never did. For giggles, I tried it on last night and, to my surprise, it fit perfect! I am smaller than I was at my all time low after trying South Beach (w/ no exercise) and the smallest I have been since 1996! I can't believe it! Words cannot express how grateful I am to have met him and that he does this for a living. Boyd has been able to help me achieve something that I have never been able to do myself or with any other diet or fitness plan. He has been there for me every step of the way providing encouragement and pushing me to become better and stronger each day.

Boyd, I hope you know how valuable you are in changing people's lives. You have created a new me, and I am forever in debt to you. You're amazing!

Prior to meeting Carrie Carmichael, I was on the diet and exercise roller coaster like millions of other people. In fact, I was just about ready to throw in the towel for good, because I truly thought I was unable to achieve any reasonable results. Thankfully, Carrie's leadership and guidance not only made proper nutrition and exercise a part of my life, but a passion in my life. To date, I've lost 30 pounds and have now set new fitness goals of increasing strength and endurance.

As a business professor, leadership is my area of expertise. I have studied successful leaders, published articles on the subject, and taught leadership classes for almost 15 years. What sets Carrie worlds apart from other personal trainers are her leadership capabilities. Simply stated, she possesses all the essential qualities of a great leader. Her work ethic is second to none and will outwork anyone in the gym and in business. She sets and ambitiously pursues difficult goals not only for her clients, but for herself. Carrie always demonstrates a great deal of integrity and serves as an outstanding role model for other trainers. She continuously acquires new knowledge and training techniques to broaden her expertise. And her interpersonal skills allow her to approach and motivate each client differently, but always with respect and care.

Every training session with Carrie is different, which is one thing that makes me look forward to going each time. She presents a different exercise or unique challenge every session, and also teaches you something new about nutrition, cardio training, and/or strength training. This method helps ingrain the fact that proper nutrition and exercise is a continuous process and never a stopping point.

Carrie's approach to personal training and her leadership capabilities made me want to climb a mountain instead of crawl in to a hole. In the four months I've been with Carrie, I really do feel like I've conquered a mountain and have never felt better. I have also seen similar success in her other clients who serve as even greater inspiration. It has truly been a life changing experience, and I am excited about working towards my new fitness goals under Carrie's leadership.
